This Week at SoCal Santa Barbara with Megan – 12/21/16

Hi Everybody, Megan here at SoCal Santa Barbara with all the news and updates from the club!

First off, we want to wish everyone happy holidays and hope that these coming weeks are enjoyable, restful, and safe. 13-Sarah had their first qualifier this past weekend and did a great job in their first tournament. They went 1-2, fought hard for every point, and every set was a nail-bitter. It was awesome to see the girls smiling and having fun, and it was a great atmosphere in the gym, with their San Diego sisters 13-Kirby and 13-JT on the courts next to them. This was a first competitive match for SoCal Santa Barbara and a big step for the club. We couldn’t be happier with this group of girls.

Our teams will be practicing over the holiday period, so please check your team page for your practice schedule. If you cannot make practices, please be sure to notify your coach via GroupMe as soon as you know you are unable to make it.

Thank you all for bringing a gift for the Casa Pacifica Holiday Gift Drive, we had every girl bring at least one gift to practice, and are really happy to be bringing some holiday cheer to those that are in need.

We still have spaces available in our Winter Break Camp #2, December 28 & 29, so please visit the website to sign up!

We held a club-wide orientation on Sunday with San Diego Director, Aimee Asebroek on Facebook Live. The video can be found on our Facebook page and while some information is San Diego-specific, club-wide topics are covered, such as a the attendance policy, club expectations, playing time, parents roles in supporting the players, and more.

If you’re looking for a last minute gift idea, we’ve got you covered. Check out our online store, TrendSetters for that volleyball enthusiast, and if you’re looking for something to start your day off right and keep you alert at all these tournaments, check out Coach Greg’s Carp Coffee, a local micro-roaster out of Carpinteria!

Again, we want to wish everyone a happy holiday period. If you find yourself in the San Diego area and are looking to get some touches in, please let us know and we can set you up with a team in San Diego to practice with or get you to pop in the gym for some training.

See you on the court!
