Meet your coaches

2019 marks Tina’s third year as the varsity co-head coach of the San Marcos Girls Volleyball program with Dwayne Hauschild. Previous to her co-head coach appointment, she served on the Royal coaching staff under Erica Menzel Downing. Tina has co-led San Marcos to Channel League titles in 2017 and 2018,  and was awarded All-Channel League Coach of the Year both those years. Tina previously served on the coaching staff at Dos Pueblos when the Chargers were a standout team in California, helping them to the 2008 CIF-SS Championships 1-A Finals.

Tina was a standout setter at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. But her biggest accomplishment has been having her daughters, products of local volleyball programming, excel as student-athletes as collegiate volleyball players – Keslie (Cal State Los Angeles); Nicki (CU Boulder); Sammie (Notre Dame/ Hawaii). Tina also coaches the beach volleyball team at San Marcos.

This is Ariana’s second year as the varsity head coach of the Santa Barbara High School Girls Volleyball program. In 2018, she returned the Dons to the CIF-SS Championships, taking them to the second round of playoffs after a tremendous season of growth. Ariana is also the varsity head coach for the beach volleyball program at Santa Barbara High School where she led them 2018 All-Channel League title.

A standout prep athlete, Ariana played both beach and indoor volleyball at Santa Barbara City College, helping the indoor team to two Western State Conference titles. She then went onto play beach volleyball at Long Beach State University, where she is the only player to have 30 digs in a match, doing it twice. Ariana has coached both boys and girls club volleyball in Santa Barbara.

Dwayne is the co-head coach at San Marcos with Tina Brown. He helped the Royals to Channel League titles in 2017 and 2018, and was awarded All-Channel League Coach of the Year with Tina in both of those years. In the early 2000s, Dwayne led the girls volleyball program at Dos Pueblos to some of their most successful seasons in program history, including state and national recognition, a CIF Final appearance, and winning the Kauai Challenge Volleyball tournament.

Dwayne has been an instrumental figure in local volleyball programming. A San Marcos alum, he was a standout player at Santa Barbara City College, later transferring to Long Beach State where he was a red-shirt member on the ’91 National Championship team. Dwayne also had a successful career on the beach. He is one of the founding members of Santa Barbara Volleyball Club where he helped place numerous local athletes in the college volleyball programs.

Megan enters her third year as the head varsity coach for the Dos Pueblos girls volleyball program. In her first two years, she has helped the program return to the CIF-SS Championships, making second round appearances in both 2017 and 2018. This will be Megan’s 6th year as an educator at Dos Pueblos, teaching CP Biology, AP/IB Biology, and IB Environmental Systems and Societies.

Megan was a four-year letter winner in volleyball at the University of Redlands, where she was 2x selected to the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Team, 2x American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-West Region Team, AVCA All-America Honorable Mention. As a middle blocker, Megan appears on just about all single-season records and is ranked #2 for career blocks and #3 for career kills in the program.
